Tyler Edmonson - Owner Theater Design Company

ABOUT US

Welcome to Theater Design Company. We design, sell, install, and service high-performance audio, video, and lighting systems for homes and select commercial projects. The company is based in Seattle–Tacoma and works across the Northwest and all of Washington, with select projects nationwide and worldwide.

Theater Design Company was founded to handle rooms that have to perform: dedicated home theaters, whole-home audio and video, lighting control, and architectural downlights. The firm is a licensed electrical / low-voltage contractor. That matters because the work is not only product selection. It includes power, low-voltage infrastructure, coordination with the builder, installation, programming, and service after the system is in use.

Every project is different. Some clients need a private theater designed from a blank room. Some need a whole-home audio and video system. Some need lighting control and new downlights. Some need all of it in one house. We start with the room and the goal, then produce a plan, specify the equipment, sell it, install it, and support it. Drawings and 3D are part of that process when the project needs them.

What we do not do is performing-arts consulting. We do not design stages, community theaters, or audience halls. The word “theater” in our name means private cinema and high-performance media rooms — plus the audio, video, and lighting systems that belong with them.

The work combines technical design with how the room will actually be used. Speaker placement, screen size, rack layout, lighting scenes, shade control, and acoustics are planned together so the finished space is not a stack of separate gadgets. Installation and service stay with the same company that designed and sold the system.

Our work includes:

1. Home theater design and construction coordination — seating, screen, projection or display, speakers, racks, lighting, and acoustics for dedicated rooms.

2. Audio and video systems — speakers, processors, amplifiers, projection, screens, source systems, video distribution, and video walls. Designed, sold, installed, and serviced.

3. Lighting design — lighting control, architectural downlights, and other lighting systems for theaters and the rest of the house.

4. Acoustic treatment — room treatment planned with the speaker and seating layout so the system can perform.

5. Integration and control — audio, video, lighting, and shades operating as one system, with controls people will actually use.

6. Installation and service — turnkey installation and ongoing service after the job is finished.

From private theaters to whole-home systems and select commercial work, the company has completed projects throughout Washington and the Northwest, and on destination jobs farther out. The aim is a long relationship with the client, not a one-time drop-off.
